Caring For Your Chaise Cushions
Chaise Lounge with cushions have become quite the fashion statement in furniture. Whether it is a traditional chaise or a contemporary chaise, there is a piece to fit any rooms decor. You can find a chaise cushion to match any home décor.
If you own a chaise with a cushion, your question may now be, how to maintain the furniture to keep it looking new for years to come. Caring for chaise cushions is important, and will help to protect your furniture investment.
A Chaise cushion can come in a variety of materials. It is important to make sure to use the proper cleaning methods on the material to make sure you do not ruin the material or make the stain worse. You always want to check the tag instructions to make sure that you do not use anything you are not supposed to on the fabric.
If you regularly vacuum the cushion upholstery it will prevent accumulation of skin cells, dirt, human and pet hair. Also, for those who do eat and drink on your furnishings, clean up spills immediately to decrease the chances of a stain and ease your chances of stain removal. Very important, do not use bleach on a seemingly white chaise fabric. Although the fabric appears to be white to the human eye, there could be a slight pigment that will be pulled out by the bleach and cause discoloration to your cushions. Make sure to check labels on your chaise to see if steam cleaning is OK. Commonly home or professional steam cleaning will shrink and deform the fabric so avoid this if directed.
If you do find a stain on your chaise cushion be sure to thoroughly clean for stain removal. Before removing stains be sure to vacuum all sides of the chaise lounge cushion and be sure all dirt is removed. Mix 1 tsp of upholstery cleaner with 8 ounces of cold water and color test fabric with this mixture is a covered area. Let the cushion sit for 24 hours to ensure no fabric discoloration. If the mixture does not damage the fabric of the cushions, spray stains with the mixture and use a rag to dab the stain out. Avoid rubbing the stain, which will spread the dirt or push stains deeper into fabric.
If you use the proper care for your cushions, you will find that it is a piece you can enjoy comfortably and stylishly for years to come, and will continue to maintain its new look for a good length of time.
