Chaise Cushion

 If you have an outdoor deck or space you probably have a lounge with a Chaise cushion on it. The chaise cushions used for outdoor furniture add comfort as well as style to the furniture, and can be a great accent to other patio settings. However, being exposed to the activities of outdoor life these cushions can get dirty if not cared for properly. Some cushions have covers that can be removed for washing. You will often find this on chair cushions. If you can remove the fabric cover you may still need to spot clean the foam padding.

You can use any type of spot cleaner to clean foam padding. By cleaning areas that have unattractive spots on them you also reduce the risk of having the foam collect disagreeable odors. For the chaise cushion covers that are not removable the cleaning procedure will depend on the material of the fabric. If it is a vinyl you can simply wash it down with soapy water. Make sure the piece air dries thoroughly before placing it back on the frame. If the cover is a different style of fabric such as a cotton blend, you can try using upholstery cleaner. There are many spray cleaners available at most grocery and department stores that work well for cleaning fabric coverings on furniture pieces.

Test a small area of the fabric first, to make sure it will not discolor the material. Using an area that is on the underside would be best, as it will not be seen if it should discolor. To avoid build up of dirt and debris on the outdoor chaise lounge cushions, it is recommended that you vacuum the chaise cushion on a regular basis. This will greatly reduce the amount of spot cleaning you will need to do. Vacuum all of the areas that have creases to pick up the crumbs and pet hair that often accumulates there. Always allow a washed item to dry before replacing it. A well cared for outdoor cushion lounge cushion will last for several years of enjoyment.
